 fecking dirge from a very talented man who sold out completely after the Beatles split, imho. With one exception - Band on the Run

Looking at the chart history of certain songs, She Loves You (Beatles) had an amazing stint of weeks at No.1,2 and 3...

Someone with the British Hit Singles book can come up with the definitive (i doin't take it to work with me).. but it's something like 6 weeks at No.1, 5 weeks at No.2 and 4 weeks at No.3..

This included leaving the number 1 spot to return a couple of weeks later... unprecedented

Jet was a good track.

Anyway, my top five (this week) in no particular order are:

1. Cottonfields - The Beach Boys (Nominal choice from one of the highest quality bands ever. Brian Wilson really is a genius. It was either 'Cottonfields' or 'Friends' or 'Caroline, No')

2. Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler) - Marvin Gaye (Random track choice from one of the greatest - if not THE greatest - albums ever)

3. I'm On My Way - Dean Parrish Wigan Casino / Northern Soul classic)

4. Fire - Jimi Hendrix (Mainly cos I am having trouble tracking a copy of it down, and therefore haven't tired of it yet)

5. Baba O'Riley - The Who (Can you exaggerate perfection?)

Next week's top five will probably be totally different.

I missed it, and I immediately regretted it. I will go and see the Beach Boys in November though. Can't miss it second time around.

Icy: Just butting in here, LA- the Light Album is worth listening to, especially Sail On, Sailor and Lady Lynda.

JTM: So, you like the Beach Boys AND Michael Jackson? Isn't that a bit like support Brighton & Hove Albion AND Crystal Palace? How do you reconcile the two different styles? :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Rockafeller Skank - fat boy slim
King of Snake - Underworld
Overkill - Motorhead
Firestarter- Prodigy
Neon Knights - Black Sabbath

No, you can't just pick five. I can't decide whether I prefer Breathe to Firestarter, and I haven't got room for Silver Machine.
