If I don't say stadium I say 'withdean'. If I'm referring to 'the stadium' it's 'the withdean stadium'.

If you're going to the match you would say "I'm off to Withdean" rather than The Withdean. In the old days you would have said "I'm off to the Goldstone". The Withdean Stadium and The Goldstone Ground just describe the location of the ground.

I wasn't comparing them , just showing how using the word "the" is acceptable to describe a locality.
