Throwng caution to the wind really isn't Chris Hughton's style. First and foremost he will want to make sure that we make the play-offs, and if a combination of our form being good enough, and other teams above us imploding, to the degree that we grab an automatic promotion place, then even better.

Yes. But what does "go for it" mean ?
On tuesday he played 4-4-2, gave Wilson, Lua Lua and Zamora a go, and we've scored 17 goals in our last 10 with a decent 5 clean sheets to boot. .
If its as simple as that we should have romped home surely.
Why, if we lose or draw 0-0 does it mean Hughton hasn't "gone for it" . Perhaps its because Wednesday and Preston to a certain extent were better opposition, didn't make stupid mistakes (see Bristol City, Leeds), we had players in/out of form (see Knockeart, Kayal v Preston, Zamora etc ) or weren't as clinical. (unlike again Bristol where we had 3 chances but 4 goals) or players weren't 100% fit (dropping Kayal again).
but this hoary old Hughton "should go for it" . Beyond playing 4 or 5 up front or something ridiculous can anyone explain what it actually means ?
Hughton has taken us to third, has stuck with exciting wingers, got the best out of Hemed, Zamora and Baldock, and has ended up with a team with more goals than Boro, Hull and Derby. With ten games to go we've the best chance of getting to the Prem League in our history, Bloom has spent a fortune again and with some winnable games coming up and the rest of the top 6 looking set to drop points or take some off each other we could well do it...
If thats not going for it then open to ideas as what it actually is...
PS: 3 wins out of 10 for Boro since they "went for it" and signed Rhodes and now they've nearly lost a manager.
My going for it would be to avoid the 433 formation and not settling for a draw in the last 10 mins. If we are drawing in stoppage time and we get a corner, send Stockdale up for it. And just to play without fear.
Right now we need a winning streak only for autos, and if all we get is the playoffs, we will need a winning streak then. An over cautious approach won't get us promoted, we saw this with Poyet.
Of course Hughton choosing Kaz's boots for him is also key. Slipping over twice in a game is really not an option at this stage of the season.
What does "going for it" mean?
It's about substitutions around the 60 mins mark.
It's also about attitude and set up away from home.
I have no problem with how we played earlier in the season when we set up 5 across the middle and were difficult to break down (e.g. Hull away & Sheff Wed away)

That is so totally sensible and well put. Not really what so much of this Board is about !!! lol
The alternative view is to play safe to ensure that we make the playoffs and rotate the squad to keep key players fresh.
Personally I'd favour throwing caution to the wind for the next few games and giving it a go. It's already clear that we are might be playing sides with match winners in their side in the playoffs. Draws won't work for us then...

I would suggest a 1-0 win against Reading will suffice if followed by 8 or 9 more similar results.

Match winners and big big clubs such as Sheff Weds (just 1 win in 6), Boro (3 wins in 10), Hull (2 wins in 7), and Derby (3 wins in 10) who'd never lose a match unlike poor old defensive draw obsessed bhafc (3 draws in 15) or perhaps that can't win for toffee Albion (6 wins in 10, 1 defeat in 10,) or perhaps that under performing Seagulls who don't have match winning strikers ( 17 goals scored in 10)

Also I see Vokes is scoring a lot of goals for Burnley again. Now I wonder why so many NSC experts didn't rate him with us. Might it have been because Gus's tactics meant that he was isolated up front?
