This man knows nothing, nothing about football, football clubs and supporters.

He reports on his findings in a matter of fact way about us being a " provincial club ". What the feck does that mean ?, how insulting, how derogative.

This is not a supermarket whereby there are no passions involved. It is a football club that thousands and thousands love, would literally in some cases die for. We will fight for this club until our dying breath because it is us, part of us, part of our identity. It is a tribal thing. Our tribe is BHAFC. We have supported them since we could walk. We have been through many highs and far too many lows.

We have had 4 seasons in the top division , we have been to the FA Cup final. We were close to the brink at Hereford. We have lived, ate , slepted, breathed this club all our life.

BHAFC is our oxygen, it is what makes us alive.

How dare you call us a " provincial club " in such a thrownway manner.

We will fight and yes my friends we will win. Because as long as there are 50000 of us in the area, people like Norman Baker and Hoile will never win.

Be proud, keep fighting. We support the greatest club in this land and given the opprotunity we will transfer this passion into results and gain our place in the Premiership at the Falmer Stadium.

What you are saying is right but for Prescott and the Inspector all they are concerned about is the site of Falmer and whether or not it is suitable. They do not have t consider what effect it will have on you as a football club. I agree it is wrong but that is the way it is :(

High up on the South Downs.
What did you expect in a class ridden, anti-football country?
The toffs had no problem in granting planning permission for Glyndebourne. They all enjoy going to the races at Goodwood which is a sports stadium built on TOP of the Downs. Surely no Albion fan expects justice after what we have gone through!!!!

I wish that was true.

Glyndebourne is a f***ing brilliant building, the largest structure in the world built since the end of WW2 entirely out of brick. It looks magnificent in its downland setting.

And it would be just visible from my house - if some tosspot of a planner hadn't insisted that it should be screened by fast growing trees. Apparently to protect people who live in the countryside from the horrors of actually being able to see it.

These people are fools.

When he said Falmer is too small did anyone actually point out that the University buildings are going to be demolished or is he suffering from 'selective deafness'

History has it wrong, this is what Winston Churchill really said...

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France (well, maybe not in France because it's a shithole), we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our beloved club, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the muddy fields of Falmer and in the streets, we shall fight in the South Downs; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this club or a large part of it were torn apart, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the mighty Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mr Churchill, we thank you.

Which is exactly why Prescott must NOT listen to him, I just hope he realises this too.

Spot on, Yorkie.

The "SR25 Site" in the Local Plan is the land adjacent to Brighton University, bounded by Village Way and the City boundary.

The old Brighton Borough Plan allocated it to future university development. The revised draft Local Plan intended that it should be allocated to a Community Stadium.

On its own, it IS too small for a football stadium.

The Albion's Planning Application is for a real football stadium that uses the SR25 Site and part of the existing University site.

That is NOT too small for a football stadium.

Any decision based upon the SR25 site alone is clearly flawed and, if it goes against the Club, could clearly be challenged.

Hopefully, Prescott is being properly advised and his decision will not be based upon the premise that only the SR25 site is involved.

In fairness to Mr Hoile, the Local Plan Inquiry was not about the existing University Site. It was only about future uses for the undeveloped site. Obviously if Prescott turns down the Planning Application, then the Local Plan would need some use for the undeveloped field. Hoile is probably right in saying that - in those circumstances - the Council should consider something other than a football stadium.

If Prescott does give permission for the Stadium, there doesn't need to be anything in the Local Plan about a possible future use for an undeveloped field. Because there won't be one.

Remember - Hoile's report is only about future planning policies.

The Planning Application is an entirely different thing.
