From the BBC - live quotes section...

On the Cricket Parade and events at Trafalgar Square...

'1317: Sports minister Tessa Jowell
Today we've seen people come out defiantly after the bombings with the optimism to celebrate. '

Why even mention the bombings? Why not just let people enjoy the moment? No-one is being defiant, they are here to celebrate with the cricket team.

Bint!

also it was her f***ing government that took test match cricket off the "crown jewels list"

Whats the odds on Sky putting Cricket on pay-for-view next year?

England bus goes past your office window, Vaughan waving the ashes all over the shop. What would the average worker think:

1. Fantastic, think I'll pop downstairs for half an hour and give the lads a cheer, christ they've earned it. Bloody marvellous.

2. Tch, hope the queues not too bad at Subway. I only want a cheese and pickle baguette.

3. Ahh excellent. Here's another chance for me to show all the terrorists how DEFIANT I am, just like I do every morning on the bus. Yeah, f*** those terrorists, I'm going to defy them AGAIN and go out onto the streets of London. That'll show em'.
:strides out purposefully:

Tell you what, Jowell. Defy THIS

If I knew what she looked like, I'd hang round Whitehall and DEFY her not to collapse in tears when I kick her in the head!

Or something...

Agreed - why even mention the bombing?

The cricketers have done a lot to cheer up a summer that would have been remembered for all the wrong reasons otherwise, but not to defy terrorists.

Bringing it up just gives the nutters an inflated sense of their own importance.

Silly cow

Now we have it! All this fuss by the Government to celebrate a narrow cricket victory over one country was simply for political gain. Makes some sense now. :nono:

err actually it was Lord maclaurin whilst chairman of the ECB that lobbied the government to get test cricket taken off the A list so they could have a proper competitive tender pricess.......

And the government "agreed" to a review later on............... No chance Sky letting that happen now

Just realised that I had to go to Kings Cross on Saturday to get the train to Leeds. What a gesture I was making against terror.

And I went to Warren Street tube station to get a Victoria line train to Oxford Circus.

How DEFIANT have you been lately?
