I always remember Mark Thomas defining what was a good Kurd and a bad Kurd in the eyes of the West (during the Ilisu Dam Campaign).

Turkish Kurds are terroists, the Turks are the Wests allies, so bad Kurds.

Iraqi Kurds are freedom fighters wanting a homeland and resisting the evil Sadam regime, so good Kurd.

Iranian Kurds (around the time when it looked like the West was talking to Iran), not sure about.

Who knows what went on behind the scenes but I don't see the Kurds objecting to the American claims that they found Saddam Hussein by themselves. In a hole where he was drugged. At a remote farm. With 600 troops. What were they expecting to find at this remote farm??
