Well done to the Albion fans and indeed the Milwall fans. The author of that disgraceful slur on Milwall from the day we played them has retracted what he said and gone on to praise Milwall for the efforts they have made to stamp out racism after spending time at the club.

The article also says his error was pointed out by many Milwall and Brighton fans. He realises he got it wrong.

He has to get the last word in though by saying racism still exists in football.

The article is on the second right hand page in from the back.

and unfortunately racism still exists in society.............................
so why pick on football which is probably doing more than all the other sports put together and more than the rest of society:nono:

Sorry but i disagree with the praise the sun seems to be getting. A pokey little bit at the back where no one looks is typical of this sack of shite. They printed 2 page articles over three different days on this and as far as i am concerned have got away with it. The **** misheard Seagulls for Sieg Heil! And that was coming form our end not from the Millwall fans. It is a disgusting excuse to stir the shit and the FA should to them to the high court over it.

An appology is just not good enough.

They should not have written it in the first place.

They went to that game WANTING to find a story about racism.

It must have done Millwall's reputation far more damage then can be rectified then a crappy little 'sorry' at the back.

I bought the Sun today (for the first time in over 15 years) and although it is an apology of sorts it certainly doesn't cover the damage the writer set out to do with his original article.

It's in The Sun. I would not even use that rag as toilet paper, let alone read anyting it has to say.

the only truth it prints are the results, racing cards, and the TV listings.

So it's OK to write a double spread on racialism still carrying on at Football and then retract it around two months later with a few small lines.

Sound like the Morris book of journalism to me

You may not but others are less discerning than you. Don't forget the Sun is still the biggest selling paper in the the Uk so it does matter how they covers issues like this.

At least the journalist was big enough to say he got it wrong even if he didn't reply to my email.

I thought he'd at least come out with it completely - I LIED. "My photographer saw a racist banner" Yeah my arse pal :nono:
He also goes on to say racism still exists at English football grounds....er, where? Certainly nowhere where you have any evidence to show for.

What a prat, he has sullied the names of two football clubs in an attempt at sensational journalism, there are undoubtedly people with racist views who attend football matches, as I am sure there are paedophiles and wife beaters, it doesn't mean that we all tolerate or share those types of behaviour. Football has cleaned its act up considerably over the past 10-15 years, but I suppose an article recognising and praising those efforts doesn't make good reading, despite giving us a nice warm feeling that we are more inclusive than ever before.
