Anyone with any noddle of course would phone it from work. We used to do this constantly until it got banned on account of the massive phone bill.

Was it always a premium rate line? I used to ring it a lot from home. I used the Brighton code (91 I believe) then 8049. I wasn't aware that it was a premium line at the time. (Sorry mum, if it was). I never dialled 0849 or whatever it was.

My missus tells a story of ringing the Seagull Line around 1980 to get the score, from a hotel in San Diego. What with the overseas call rate, the premium phone line and the hotel's outrageous mark-up, I think the call cost her Dad more than the return flight to the States!

I got hammered for roaming internet charges a few years ago while in Madrid. I didn't realise every time I refreshed it whacked up the Bill. Fortunately it was on my work Blackberry and I got away with it.
