Surely playing it as last as October is a recipe for disaster anyway, should be mid September at the latest. Apparently the schedule hasn't allowed them to do so but it surely has to be a priority over some other tournaments.

Correct...The US PGA wouldnt move their last two 'big money' tournaments , so this was the first week available.
Just think what Gleneagles in four years time will be like.. (same week ) !
