Just wondering what the stadium is like. Yes i am missing the final ever game at the Withdean but have a training session at the ground after the Coventry V Reading game. Can anyone tell me what the stadium is like because i'm a little nervous?? cheers.

Nice stadium but has bad reviews for being very soul-less and boring, this site is very good for looking at grounds Football Ground Guide: Ricoh Arena, Coventry City FC

It's just like St Marys with blue seats instead and no atmosphere.

The atmosphere is killed by the no standing policy,we will have the same problem

Hotel and conference centre I believe.

and a casino!!

One of my best mates is a Cov fan, so have heard a fair bit about their situation. The ground is owned by the council, so it seems they had little say over the construction and capacity and also means that they get relatively little revenue match-by-match (I think I am right in saying that they only get merchandise and refreshment sales). This really makes me realise how lucky we are - to actually own the Amex outright (albeit with loans) is a huge asset to have. It would be interesting to know how many other league clubs are in a similar position? Also, when the ground was being planned, they were an established Prem team so the size was about right. Given that they have experienced mid-table mediocrity every season since largely explains why it is only ever half full!

Just got back from the game and the atmosphere wasn't too bad, i think there was 22,000 people there today. Quite good i think.... Great day !!

The Ricoh is soulless, rather like being inside a shopping centre atrium.
Try getting there from the station.

Think we're in danger of getting a bit snobby with the Amex. That looks nothing like St Marys, it looks like a terrific arena to me, another one I'm looking forward to visiting.

Its even got proper stands behind the goals.

Was looking forward to it, but another soulless bowl I'm afraid. The old ground was miles better.
