and just to add, loved the whole 'boro experience on Saturday. A decent, proper
club with genuine fans.

I thought most Posh fans have been pretty honest about their performance. Satisfying to read a thread on their forum slagging off Lee Tomlin. Clearly he was not popular with many Posh fans before Saturday plus several agree he should have been sent off against us. Nasty piece of work with a big ego, not slow to abuse his own fans either. The Ref gave him several final chances yet he'd already been on a yellow for a lot of the game. I did enjoy JFC making Tomlin look a mug first half especially when JFC nutmegged him and Tomlin being too fat/slow to catch up and scyth him down from behind, but missed by a yard!

We played brilliantly at times in the first half and ought to have been 2 up at half time. Posh were especially poor for the first hour and but for a 15 minute period when we lost concentration a bit and let them score they were largely outplayed. Shouldn't forget they were without Boyd - and McCann who understandably looked rusty when he came on in 2nd half. Interesting to read McCann's stats in the programme - he has a very high quota of shots this season (60+) with a high percentage on target and 8 goals, yet he has been injured for the last 6 weeks. Impressive. Good at set pieces. Wouldn't be surprised to see him move on if Posh don't stay up, would be very handy addition for us, especially around CMS.

Always good to read (or in this case hear) opposition views on a game

McCann - 60 shots, 8 goals

Buckley - 5 shots, 6 goals.

:wink:Didn't the cloggers do well?

:lolol: - fair point.

As I say a fully deserved 3 points.

CMS still looks a little shocked/lost playing in a formation and style of play that doesn't supply him with lots of chances. He still worked hard and linked the play well on Saturday mind.

Buckley - 5 shots, 6 goals.

Now edited, but still not true!

He HAS had other shots, of that I'm certain. For example, off the top of my head, at 1-0 in the Bristol City game last week, he cut in from the right and hammered a shot narrowly wide and high, to the left of the goal.

Shouldn't that stat be how many shots ON TARGET? If that's the case I think its correct.

Great that Buckley is developing such a good goal scoring record and long may it continue, especially as his goals are not tap-ins. However Buckley is not the same type of player as McCann. Buckley is an attacking wide player whereas McCann is a central midfielder / ball winner required to track back when not attacking.

I was contrasting McCann's stats for a central midfielder and his accuracy on target is very high even if he hasn't scored many goals. I suggest that he compares very well with Sparrow for example who I would be amazed if he had 60 shots this season and 40+ on target. One of my nagging issues this season is that we have been (until the last couple of games) reluctant to shoot and when we do the accuracy isn't brilliant. If you don't shoot you won't score etc. We lost the impact of Benno. Even on Saturday Sparrow and JFC had a couple of efforts but didn't particularly threaten to score.

I guess it helps that McCann is P'boro's set piece specialist. I suppose Harley was supposed to be our specialist (yes there was that free kick in the home game against P'Boro, but then his powder puff penalty at Millwall) and maybe Vicente could be ours (?) but neither have barely made any impact. Further underlines the loss of a Benno and how we could benefit from a McCann type of player.

Thought you were a bit hard on yourselves to be honest.

We were certainly the better side first half but thought you were by far the better side in the second. Interesting to hear that your fans have started to turn on Lewis. Thought he was going to be the next big thing and was destined for the Prem? Is it just a lack of confidence or is he just not as good as he was being made out to be a while back?

CMS jury is still out on to be honest. You can't fault the lad for effort but his finishing has been poor, for the money we paid you'd expect him to have had more goals. He doesn't get the stick some others do (Barnes for example) because his work rate is second to none and we've seen what he is capable of (his Leeds goal!). He does need a settled partner to play along side him. Whether Hoskins is that player we simply don't know as the bloke can't stay fit.

Sorry, meant on target. I'm 80% confident it's true.
