That sounds very plausible, but it seems unnecessary. Why don't they all go their fastest and then it's job done - order can be current ranking or results at last championships etc.

Sexism, pure and simple. Women's events are fairly new so they are playing catch up.

We are just very good, qualifying just sorts out the order. We watch world cup where they do just all ride and then 1-2 just ride for Gold/Silver 3-4 Bronze. The teams here are good but often they will catch inferior teams and then thats it often to the detriment of records.

Can you believe we watched that Aussie team beat this GB team in the test event World Cup in Febuary, we are awesome at getting it right.
