Just been studying the Amex Gallery pictures on the club website and been trying to work out how many the North Stand holds.
1) There's 5 blocks....3 main central and 2 wings.
2) In the main blocks there's about 24 rows and about 14 seats per row.
3) In the wings there's about 24 rows and about 7 seats per row.
Simple maths......
3x24x14 = 1008
2x24x7 = 336
Total ( approx ) 1344
Surely I have got this wrong and there are more seats than that?
It looks like it should hold between 2000-2500.

It depends who you believe - the numbers are roughly the same:

West Stand (in three tiers) 12,204 seats
East Stand (in single tier) 5,194 seats
North Stand (in single tier) 2,564 seats
South Stand (away supporters in single tier) 2,538 (must be a minimum of 10% capacity)

West - 11,833
East - 5,404
North - 2,688
South - 2,575

By way of comparison... the south stand at Brisbane Road (the one to our left on Tues night, aka the Tommy Johnston Stand) has a capacity of 1,336.

Can't be 14 seats per row, there's 14 supports but it'll be more like 28 or 29 per row, with one support per 2 seats ( less a few for aisles etc ).

Block capacities on the seating plan I have are 315, 664, 692, 664, 315 .

Yes...its me...I've been counting the supports....that makes more sense....about 2500.
Double that size would have been nice but you can't have everything.

a simple search for "stand capacity" would've saved you all that effort :thumbsup:

Just what I was thinking.

Counting blocks and rows from pictures, crikey. Bit like my mate who tries to count the away fans during some of the duller Withdean offerings.

good effort counting the seats in the north stand, just went to the web cam and did the same in the south, came up with 2575 as an answer, :)
how many away teams will fill that if we are in the Championship, is their a possibility to have "Brighton" blocks in the south stand if necessary ...
or would it then be empty?

I believe it can be split in half if required.

Block capacities in the South are a little different as there are more rows at the rear of the centre blocks and less disabled spaces, at 274, 623, 721, 623, 274.

That makes it more real to me. And if that's our smallest (albeit best) stand Falmer is going to be ROCKING when it's sold out!!!!!
