Having screamed that he should have been taking the one against Ipswich, I have chosen to reappraise my position.
Having screamed "based on f***ing what?" since the Ipswich game, my headshake was accompanied by a dumb smile... Mind you, wouldn't have been the case if it was 0-0.

He has the composure of a woman at a Black Friday shoe sale and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a 90th minute free kick just outside the penalty box.

You’re familiar with Black Friday shoe sales? I’ve never seen one, or is that casual misogyny?

Its a joke, which was a popular concept between at least 5000 B.C. until 2008 AD when people stopped having lives and decided to dedicate their days to getting upset.

I could have said "like a kid in a toy store" but then I guess someone would come and wave around with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Upset? No, just puzzled at the analogy. Kid in a toy shop is much better. (y)

Personally, I'd rather slit my own throat than go to a Black Friday shoe sale.

when you see some of the free kicks, corners etc taken by players of clubs in all sorts of leagues and levels you can see that while not easy, plenty of players can take them quite well, and you have to wonder why we are so bad at it, and have been since , well, forever.

There must be someone in the squad who can consistently kick the ball, from a stationary position, to where he wants it to go.(or even in the general direction)

We don't need a specialist wonderkid just to take set pieces, but surely our set piece coach can get a couple of players at least make reasonable free kicks consistently

There is - unfortunately we sent him on loan to Sevilla. Does Kadioglu take Free kicks? Seems like he might

Free kicks, corners and crosses from the wings are mostly of quite a low standard for the level we are now at, have been for a long time too. I thought they might get better when the free kick coach buggered off to Norwich but they haven’t. Barco seemed to be the only one who put in decent ones. Gilmour was better than most at corners.

Gross’s were pretty shit all last season too

Hitting the wall from 20 meters is still 53 meters closer to hitting the goal than Encisos free kick yesterday.
But hitting the wall could lead to a rebound that goes to our opponents who break at speed and score down the other end.

Putting it in orbit is clearly a defensive move par excellance.
