They'll forever be remembered for a certain football song however, and not a lot else

Lots of OK stuff. One great song - Sugar Coated Iceberg.

And that football one (can't remember how it goes...). Which was good until it was played to death.

Do you mean "The Life of Riley" which was used for goal of the month on Match of the Day in the early nineties?

They are the dogs bollogs, such bitter sweet candy coated pop has never been bettered than that produced by the pen of Ian Brody.

I still rate paying a fiver for their greatest hits as one of the biggest musical bargains of my life. Go get it pop pickers.

You're lying again
You say you don't but then you do
I'm trying again
To build a wall around your heart
Then break it through
To you
You make it happen

Everything's blue now
Oh lucky you
Oh lucky you
There's nothing to lose
So if it's really true oh lucky you

You're chasing the moon
Reaching out to touch the stars
But you land too soon
What will it take to make you see
The way things really are
We've come this far
So let it happen

Everything's blue now
Oh lucky you
Oh lucky you
There's nothing to lose
So if it's really true oh lucky you

You're lying again
Give it up and tell the truth
You can't stop the rain
It's gonna fall on every roof
I've got the proof
And only you
Can make it happen

Everything's blue now
Oh lucky you
Oh lucky you
There's nothing to lose
So if it's really true oh lucky you

definitely underrated ..... Life of Riley was written by Ian Brodie for his son, strangely enough called Riley. Also wrote a couple of songs with terry Hall (Specials etc) which can't be bad.

In the office when people hear a song on the radio they say "I used to love this song"... I always say "well does that mean you don't now?"

Or does it mean you haven't heard it in years as your music collection is woefully inadequate?

Never EVER be embarrassed as to your music tastes...
ie Gene Pitney is on Capital Gold at the mo singing 'I'm Gonna Be Strong' ..

I love that song

Can we have a smiley on a soapbox please?

And yes the Lightning Seeds are great - I love them too!
Saw them at the Dome in '97 and they were superb.. even though an amp blew up midway through the performance

Pure is my 2nd favourite song of all time (behind Joy Division's Atmosphere) and definitely on my funeral playlist. Great pop songs with an occasional darker undertone. Broudie was/is a genius.

Are they still going/gigging?

Brilliant call, quality band.

I heard they were reforming last summer (I think they may have done the Guil-Fest) but nothing else since.

Would love to see them doing some festivals this summer.

Best song in my opinion is Pure
