Just how ridiculously strong a squad do they have at the moment? Should be firm favourites for the Cup of Nations surely?

Defenders: Arthur Boka (VfB Stuttgart), Benjamin Brou Angoua (Valenciennes), Soulemanye Bamba (Leicester City), Emmanuel Eboue (Galatasaray), Igor Lolo (Kuban Krasnodar), Siaka Tiene (Paris St Germain), Kolo Toure (Manchester City), Didier Zokora (Trabzonspor).

Midfielders: Kafoumba Coulibaly (Nice), Jean-Jacques Gosso Gosso (Orduspor), Max Gradel (St Etienne), Didier Ya Konan (Hannover 96), Ismael Tiote (Newcastle United), Yaya Toure (Manchester City).

Forwards: Wilfried Bony (Vitesse Arnhem), Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow), Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Gervinho (Arsenal), Salomon Kalou (Chelsea), Abdelkader Keita (Al Sadd).


Some top, top players in there... Don't know too much about how they play but could line up like this?

They should have a great side but have ultimately disappointed in the last two World Cups. Full-backs and keeper look a problem.

Senegal could be worth backing at the African Cup of Nations.

Its a team good enough to get atleast to the semi of world cup. But i don't think they will.

Very strong squad, loads of great players in there. Except the goalkeepers, Boubacar Barry is woeful... not sure if he's still involved but their second choice 'keeper used to be white which looked really weird, and he always looked Sunday league standard whenever he played. Comedy keeper of the highest order.

No Egypt this time, so the tournement is wide open in my book.

You've only highlighted six players, and not all of them are much cop.

Yaya Toure is excellent, as is Drogba when he wants to be. Gervinho though? He's not all that, & Kolo Toure's best days are behind him. Tiote has had a good season, but other than that, I don't see a lot that would make (say) Spain or Germany lose sleep.

Nothing to do with how they're brought up. It's because genetically black people don't make good goalkeepers, just natures way I'm afraid.

most likely be a ghana vs ivory coast final, but my darkhorses for the cup are Burkina Faso, they are usually there or there abouts and have a strong but underrated squad

I was more talking about the African Cup of Nations than the World Cup, I personally think they will steamroller the competition when it gets under way in ten days (?) time!

Didier Zokora is very useful player, as is Doumbia!

Bernard Lama was good between the sticks. However all the others that I've thought of are/were crap!
