Simple solution. Next time you're in Sainsbury's go round all the Buy One Get One Free offers, and only pick up one item instead of two. Repeat until total of £13.47 is reached. Leave with clear conscience. Job done!

I actually think that most people in this world (certainly in this country) assume that everybody else is a crook. I find that honesty is always the way to go and Im sure that Sainsburys would be delighted if you rectified the error and may even reward you for doing so - I am a small shop owner and know I would!!
As others have said, the mistake would already have been noticed by management as his till would not have balanced.

Or just make a point of shopping at Sainsburys more often, until you have boosted their profits by said amount.
Or buy some flowers and place them on his (now dead) mother's grave, with the label saying I'm sorry your final hours were so painful.....
