Salt and Vinegar, but it MUST be 'Irish' (e.g. Russian or Italian owned chipper in Ireland) chips. Chips in the UK are too thin, and either too dry or overly lardy.

Oh, and NEVER in a newspaper. Thats not done here. Brown paper bag, always.

Chips in newspaper stopped about 30 years ago, MYOB!

When I was in hospital for a while I got a nurse to get me 'cheesey chips' with lashings of salt & vinegar - she even would get them at 2, 3, 4 in the morning for me.

What a sweetheart!

Salt 'n' Sauce, of course! But only in Edinburgh, cuz nowhere else does it.

In most places, Salt 'n' Vinegar. With a pickled egg.

Those of you who have voted for mayo are sick. Sick, sick, sick. I can't think of anything more disgusting, you foul, foul people.

Preferably with salt and vinegar and a nice big piece of haddock. If in Brighton, from Bardsley's. Just right, without a hint of grease. Mind you, I can recommend one in East Grinstead, and in Aldeburgh in Suffolk. Queue up for your chips with your pint of Adnams from the White Hart across the road:drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

I knew a couple in Huddersfield who were called Chip & Sarah :lolol:

I love mayo with chips but for those of you who live near Sheffield try your chips with Hendersons Relish. It's a sort of Worcester sauce but 100% better.
Last time we visited the inlaws we brought 12 bottles back with us.
