What are the penalties for deliberatly distracting the ref with bad conduct during open play?

This should take precidence over the goal decision, right or wrong.

They tried the moving 10 yards forward for back chat a few years ago didn't they?

I think that, like a lot of new season initiatives, it failed because it wasn't enforced. If every dispute showing lack of respect from a player resulted in a 10 minute sin bin, I wonder how long this continuous arguing with the ref would continue?

They haven't been hard done by at all, the incident is entirely the fault of their own stupid players. The referee is perfectly entitled to stop the game in such circumstances.

A player shall be cautioned and shown the yellow card if:

(j) he enters or re-enters the field of play to join or rejoin his team after the game has commenced, or leaves the field of play during the progress of the game (except through accident) without, in either case, first having received a signal from the referee showing him that he may do so. If the referee stops the game to administer the caution, the game shall be restarted by an indirect free kick taken by a player of the opposing team from the place where the ball was when the referee stopped the game, subject to the overriding conditions imposed in Law 13.

If, however, the offending player has committed a more serious offence he shall be penalized according to that section of the law he infringed.

(k) he persistently infringes the Laws of the Game;

(l) he shows, by word or action, dissent from any decision given by the referee;

(m) he is guilty of ungentlemanly conduct.

For any of these last three offences, in addition to the caution, an indirect free kick shall also be awarded to the opposing side from the place where the offence occurred, subject to the overriding conditions imposed in Law 13, unless a more serious infringement of the Laws of the Game was committed.

.............but most of these referees have never played professional football,had their vision corrected,bothered to learn the rules of the game,or met their fathers.

With the exception of the professional football element, I think you're confusing the referees with the players there.

Just seen this on the FL show. Tough shit Wednesday; the actions of the players was a discrace and should've resulted in an instant free kick to Bristol and at least a card to 2 of the Wednesday players. Besides, the ref couldn't have seen what was going on in the box - the Wednesday scorer could have punched the ball into the net for all he knew.

They are often though excellent practitioners of onanism I gather.

For all those who can't stand it when players start chasing the ref when the ball is still in play, this was very satisfying viewing...

Serves that donkey Llera right for going mental at the ref when he should have been concentrating on the game.
Very much this. Of course the referee had to blow before the ball was in the net. Llera's antics of shoving him and getting in his face as the game went on meant the referee couldn't see anything.
