A long long time ago
I can still remember how Kitson used to make me cry
But I knew if I had my chance
That I would see Zamora dance
And beat all those defenders with a smile

But July has now made me shiver
With every rumour that got delivered
Bad news on the Chat Site
I couldn't tell wrong from right

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about he'd left our side
But something touched me deep inside
The day our Bobby signed

So bye bye, Bobby Z goodbye
You took us up, without you
We may have died
Us good old boys will drink Brighton dry
Singing bye bye Bobby Z, goodbye

Lovely stuff, sums it right up.

With that i'm off to bed.

I've had worse days:)

Bobby you're up there with Peter Ward, Mark Lawrenson, and further back Tommy Cook and Charles Webb as an all-time Albion great.

Thanks for everything. As someone else said, "It's been emotional"

May you become as big a legend at Spurs as you are here, you were a class act and it was a joy to watch you in the stripes.

A true Albion legend and hero. Good luck at spurs sir Bob. Time to watch the video of the Halifax goal again I think.

What I loved about him was always played for the team despite his obvious talent and you could see how well liked he was by all the squad. A true talent and we have been privelleged to have him at what is just the begining of a glittering career. Halifax goal was the best I have ever seen live. Go on and score the winning goal for England in the world cup final, the Seagulls will cheer you all the way.

On NSC for over two decades...
I'll never forget the time when Bob juggled the ball over the heads of THREE players last season, only to be denied by the keeper, he showed Jonah a thing or two about showboating that day!!!

Thanks Bob, I might even be tempted to watch the Premiership now.

The inevitability of it only sharpened the disappointment when it finally happened, for me.

Goodbye and thanks Bob. Best player since Wardy, certainly the best player I've ever seen in a Brighton shirt. The memories you've given us will never be taken away - that sublime goal against Halifax, the goal at Peterborough, right in front of thousands of us, as we closed in on another title.

Things I never thought I'd see from my team - I honestly thought, after the years of shit we went through, that supporting the stripes would be a relentless grind, my pride in the club sustained only by the fervour of its fans despite our lowly position and because of what we'd been through, with little actual success to sustain and nourish us.

For me, Zamora epitomised the revival of the club - a class player in a resurgent side, a man not afraid to work his nuts off in two lower divisions that he's clearly too good for, and a thoroughly decent bloke.

You go with our gratitude, Bob. I have every confidence that you'll prosper in the top flight.

By the way - we've drawn his previous club in the League Cup. Assuming we get through, I'd bet my house on us drawing Spurs at home in the next round.

We were all resigned to losing you at the end of the season.

But... it didn't happen.
Closer and closer to the new season we got. Every club linked with you were buying other players.

Could he stay? Could it happen?

No.

If it had happened in May, fine.
But now my hopes that had been built back up have been knocked back down, shattered into little pieces.

But no one is blaming you Bobby. You are a hero. A legend.

Go head for the stars.
And when you get there, don't forget us.

Good Luck :)

xx
