As I promised to spill the beans about what the sounds really are if we beat Newcastle here you are.

A little known film called Red State opened in the USA in March 2011 and played in only a few cinemas. It didn’t receive a nationwide distribution and eventually went on to Video On Demand before going to DVD. It mainly played at festivals around the rest of the world and was released in the UK on DVD 23rd Jan 2012.

The film and storylines revolve around a group of religious(Christian) fundamentalists and the subsequent run in with the US authorities.

A small sub-plot involves the neighbours of the religious loonies who don’t get on with each other who decide to hook up their ipod to some massive f**k off speaker system and prank them into believing the sounds they are playing are the first signs of Gods rapture.

Now take into account the first videos that appeared on the internet about these trumpet sounds are virtually identical to the “hoax” sounds in the film and first appeared in August 2011 and you pretty much have your answer.

The fact that 100`s of different videos are now appearing with slightly different sounds only proves people love a good prank, the same as 1000`s of UFO videos are all over the internet, some of which are clearly fake even if well made.

Luckily some bright spark has uploaded the relevant piece from the film.
It shouldn’t ruin the film either if you are planning to watch it.
