not rascist - just a reflection of the time. Or are you calling Brian Moore rascist for praising the 'wonderful contribution to football being made by the black players' ?

Agreed. Atkinson has said some silly things since but that isn't racist, it is as you say a reflection of the times. I seem to remember some old footage from the BBC calling them 'coloured' as well, so surely the entire BBC is racist too?

It's not so many years ago that we had children's books like "Little black sambo" and the song "The sun has got it's hat on..." also contained lyrics which are now non-pc, and this was a children's song.

All these were things which anyone over, say, 40, were brought up with as normal. Although standards change, is it really any wonder tha sometimes a slip of the tounge, or a slip back in time, causes a comment which, acceptable many years ago, is no longer thus?

I think that Big Ron has harshly treated. he was the 1st to champion black/coloured players in the pro game and that WBA team were a sheer joy to watch.
