YI work in Leicester Sq and am going to have to find something round here for the Sweden game and based on previous tournaments I cant say Im looking forward to it much.

Me neither. From past experiences, any central London pub with a halfway decent screen will be rammed, and unless you have a job that allows you to get there at least a couple of hours before KO, you'll be stuck at the back with a poor view and endless scrum to get near the bar.

Frankly, viewing it with mates in someone's house is best. Especially with a halftime barbie etc.

Are you desperate to watch the game with your NSC chums or are you simply even more unimaginative than the chap that suggested the Sports Cafe?

It'll be on in every pub with a telly!!

so every pub is the same then?

Ive yet to find the definitive pub in london to watch footie but I know it's out there somewhere.

I don't see the problem with taking a big cooler with a stack of beers to a big open air screen. They should stick it on down on the beach.

Does every pub appeal to the same person then? Keep looking you will know when you find it.

Not Luton! Thank God
Is there def going to be a screen in Trafalgar square? There was one for the last world cup but the game was at 7 in the morning and it was still packed. What would it be like with a 5pm game?

Garden Bar in Islington is my preferred footie bar viewing.

They kick you out straight after an afternoon game for clearing up but there's plenty of other bars in the area for post celebration/commisaration drinks!

The best ones are the real football supporters pubs, they are always good.

Though the best one I ever went to was in Walthamstow. On Hoe Street - The "Royal Oak" rings a bell. During 1998 Euro Championship, it was standing room only, flags, banners civered all walls, there were drummers, the works. After one mid afternnon game, we did the conga down the road, involving stopping a bus, getting on the front, congoing up the stairs b4 going out thru the back door.

Only the Met stopped our celebrations.

The Atmosphere at the England Argentina game was immense, never have I experienced anything like it outside of "live " match.

Unfortunately................with a change of Landlord and change of image, its a lot calmer now.

I've been invited to a couple of corporate events, free beer etc.

Otherwise I be at home - this time. I generally aim to SEE most games.

I believe the England matches will also be outside in Canary Wharf.

Got an e-mail say that they are showing all the england games on a big screen in the bar at The End. I've got no idea what it looks like in the daytime but it could be worth a look if you're nearby

I do hear all the arguments against the 'plastics', but I reckon for a BIG game like a quarter or semi (final - haha) the place to be (other than the game) is somwhere like Trafalgar Square. Just can't beat that big crowd atmos!:clap2:

No every pub isn't the same, but my idea of a definative pub is probably quite different to yours.

My definative pub for watch the world cup would be a quiet one, where I could get a drink (in a glass) and would have to put up with idiots.

Thankfully my company have hired a pub, so the only idiots I have to put up with is the idiots I work with and I'm quite conditioned to them already.

If you want to find the REAL fans with the drums (WTF??) I'm afraid I can't help.........actually have you thought about the Sports Cafe on Haymarket?? :shootself

The Comedy just off Leicster square is quite good. It's got three levels all with either screens or tvs. It'll be busy but might be less busy than others.

We do actually usually end up there, basement level. If you can get there 30 mins before the game starts you are usually ok.

They did this for the Euros too, could be a good shout, decent bar but pricey drinks.
