Maybe not best ever but my honourable mentions would go to:

The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows
Interpol - Leif Erikson (has the most painfully beautiful guitar sound come in about halfway through)

The ones that came straight to my mind were Slow Life by Super Furry Animals off Phantom Power, and Rock & Roll Suicide by David Bowie off Ziggy Stardust.

That Interpol album is such a classic. Reminds me so much of Lowlife who I adored in the 80s/90s.

Comfortably one of the best albums of the last 20 years. Such a great atmosphere to it. I'll have to check out Lowlife.
