Another thing I don't understand is how getting a lawyer, who set up a corporation to make the payment, to pay off a porn star to keep quiet about an affair, and then reimbursing the lawyer, be illegal? I thought that when you use a lawyer, that means that things are legitimate? Doesn't it?

I do know, but have now forgotten.

The problem for Donny is that's not where it ended.
Had he paid her off that's fine but he did something like claim the money back through expenses, or paid directly from a business.

As is customary for Don he couldn't just simply pay someone off.
He did so in a manner that involved him not paying - that's where his problem now lies.
