In fairness to Stormin' Norm, he's a government minister who doesn't support most of the government's policies, so he has little choice but to act weasely. It does, however, come fairly naturally to him.

Of course he had a choice, he's reported to despise the Tories and he could have resigned the whip and sat as an independent liberal (as could others), thereby sticking to his principles; his choice not to do that shows that he puts his career above his principles.
So you can add "hypocrite" to his other plaudits.
