Tendulkar is obviously a legend of cricket, but isn't this a bit of a nothing record? Had anyone heard people referring to the number of international hundreds a player had before this?

Because no-one has ever come close. That is partly down to the amount of cricket played these days but the next on the list is Ponting with 71 and I dont think he will get many more opportunities to score another one. It is an amazing acheievment and should be celebrated.
