When we moved into this house, we had to immediately pop down the shop and buy some light bulbs - as they had taken every single one with them!

As well as the dog-grate, which was actually mentioned in the sale details, which annoyed me even more.

Had to look up dog grate as had never heard the term! Didn't realise (but with retrospect, should have) that these had a specific name.

Anyway, certainly a few years ago it was a legal requirement that you had to leave light fittings with bulbs in when you moved out of a house. You could replace decent fittings with a simple rose if you wished, but you had to leave something there that worked.
