Mac's are a pain but they can connect to the same wireless networks as normal PC's. What sort of wireless secuirty is running on the router .i.e WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP or AES) or WPA2-PSK?

Knowing BT it will be WEP 128bit

This may help;
1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2. Click the Network Icon.
3. make sure that Airport is selected
4. select Preferred Networks.
5. Click the plus (+) sign to add a wireless network
6. Enter the SSID as the network name and select the correct network encryption.
7. Click apply, job done.

Remember knowing the wireless settings is key.

Yes. Have you tried switching it off and on again?

The so called beauty of a Mac is that it's 'user friendly'. I suggest you call BT and spend a good deal of time while your 'engineer' reads through his script.

Different supplier and router but -
We're on Homechoice/Tiscali and the tech bods had the same issue until they put a $ sign before the password..
Works a treat, but not listed or flagged as a fix anywhere in their manuals.

what is a home hub? I'm a mac user and a long suffering BT customer and they sent me one a while back. It currently sits in the box behind the sofa.

Theres a problem with how (badly) MacOS X handles the encryption method the Home Hub uses. Phone BT and ask for the Mac 1.5 desk and they'll tell you to get connected. MacOS 9 is f***ed, though.

My Uni BT homehub is a f***ing piece of shit. It loses its connection about 3-5 times a day, disconnects from the internet whenever it wants. (Im not using wireless either) :lolol:
