Our one and only time in a League Cup quarter final was in the 1978/79 season. We’ve only got to the 4th round twice since 1980. Think you mean the FA Cup quarter final at Old Trafford.

We should put out a team good enough to beat Portsmouth tomorrow. Should get some good minutes into the fringe players and then can do the same with Preston away. We can do well this year.

The U23s have a game against Arsenal U23s on Friday, so don’t think we’ll use many of them.

Yes my mistake, FA Cup, it was a night game in the snow which is why my memory thought is was a midweek match. It was freezing that night

Making sure we stay in the premier league is more important though. We have to concentrate on that. If we happen to find ourselves deep into a cup, great, but it in no way should be a focus.

Last season I understand that because Potter was new and the season before we were awful in the league. However, from a personal point of view would love us to take the cups seriously would prefer winning a cup to staying in the prem but I know the board wouldn't.

I hope we don''t play 3-5-2 as 3 CBs vs Pompey is entirely unnecessary.

Play 4 at the back and let Veltman and Bernardo push on, with Molumby or Stephens help out the defence when necessary.

We really need to see MacAllister, Gyokeres and Ali J step up tomorrow.

Cochrane
Roberts
Yapi
Gwargis

in the squad.

The big question is whether Gyökeres will start up front.

Very good question.

He is currently our number 3 striker so he’d normally be nailed on for a start.

However, he didn’t make the squad for Chelsea and you’d have to assume a loan to Swansea just needs a signature to ratify it.

If he fails to get in the squad or gets no minutes today, you’d have to say that a new striker signing is very very close and that Viktor will be Wales bound any day soon.

Yapi - Molumby - Stephens - Bernardo
AliJ - Gross

I would probably swap Stephens for Propper at half time if possible. Would be nice to Sanders given some game time, as he looks a decent player too.
