Tax self assessment on line

Any else have this problem?

I do the wife's self assessment on line and 3 days later she gets a spam e-mail telling her she has a refund due etc, etc.

A week later I then do my own self assessment on line, and 3 days later I get a similar spam e mail telling me I have a refund due etc, etc.

Coincidence, or is there a 'leak' on the Inland Revenue site?

You should forward such emails to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) would not inform customers of a tax rebate via email, or invite them to complete an online form to receive a rebate of tax.

Do not visit the website contained within the email or disclose any personal or payment information.

I did mine online the other day, haven't had any funny email though - or at least my spam filter isn't letting it through.

I have had similar emails, but my accountant submits my accounts! So I guess its coincidence.

HMRC is more into pidgeon post than emails.
