Haven't had one of the famous Balti pies but I eat a lot of bombay Potato slices and curry pies from various bakers. Pastry and curry really works. One of our old traditional medieval dishes was a kind of curried mutton pie so it's no wonder we all love a bit of Balti pie, it's in our genes.

I love steak pie, but can't abide kidney. My mum used to give me steak and kidney pie when I was a nipper, and I'd sit there for ages disecting the pie to remove all the kidney chunks. Not easy either, as the gravy in the pie makes all the meat look the same.

Liver / kidney is the DEVILS FOOD, and I want no part of it.
