Tackling Life" by Charlie Oatway - pre-order now for £1.99

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
An author can expect to make 10% (industry average) on book sales. Don't give up the day job, Charlie.

A shame that his book is just a 'quick read'. If Cole, Lampard, Gerrard and the other losers can roll out a 400 page book, then I am sure Mr Oatway could.

Richard Branson wrote a 'quick read' which was later extended into a full book.

Listing his full name would extend Charlie's by quite a bit.

It only takes an hour to read, is a bit lacking in depth, but Chas comes out of it really well. He has had loads of knocks in life but keeps bouncing back.

An essential £1.99 purchase for all Albion fans.

A BIT?

Back to back promotions, under two managers, covers two pages, without once mentionning Zamora!

Fair play to Charlie for doing this, and considering his literacy issues, really is a great achievement, but a bit more detail would have been nice! I'd rather learn more about a specific period, than this effort at tearing through his whole life. IMHO, like.

Charlie Oatway: Tackling Life:

Charlie was born, and got a really long name.
Lots of Charlie's family were baddies.
Charlie flirted with being a bit of a baddie.
Charlie got was good at footy, not so good at school, partly due to reading difficulties.
Charlie got expelled, and had to go to special school.
Charlie played for some footy teams, and also did some naughty stuff and got in some fights.
Charlie had a couple of girlfriends and had two kids (inc 'Charlie Boy') by the age of 19.
Charlie got signed by Cardiff, did well for a while, but went to court for fighting.
Charlie got sent down for 4 months.
Charlie came out, got his head down, played more footy for some other teams.
Charlie came to Brighton, won two titles, learnt to read, got injured, retired, and became a coach.
The end.

It is only TWO QUID though, so fair enough.

I think the book was nice. It wasn't a 400 page read with details about all of those aspects but I guess thats the point. Charlie couldn't read, why'd he write a book others can't. Easy to have picked up and I really really enjoyed reading it.

In the book it says all proceeds do go to 'Albion in the Community', do you get more if purchsed directly. Really good read if you are an Albion fan, would be just right for a commute journey.
