A note of caution about the Lancs match and the bad weather up there- they need to win to stay with us, Middlesex need to win to keep away from relegation. I smell the possibility of a contrived, limited-overs style last day bash.

Hmmm, I can see the benefits in that.

Lancs lose or draw, they are either a point in front or a couple behind - no biggy

Lancs win and they're probably about 10 in front, which could make all the difference.

if they go for a contrived result Lancs would forfiet their first innings and Middlesex their second

ergo no batting points for Lancs and if the rains returns 7 points (assumming max bowling points) from the game leaving us 4 points ahead
