Please f*** Off Gus Mackay.

I it really all down to him? I am not trying to court a heavy deabte here but it seems all roads lead to his wine cellar right now. Surely some blame is attributable to the lack of squad recruitment and the fact that we have no real talent comibng through to replace the aging but excellent players we have.

MacKay still had some say on us loosing 3 key players in the winter and not replacing them, or trying to create a shortcut on replacing them.

It has cost the team, and all the while removing members facilities, putting prices up of tickets and food outlets, banning BYO alcohol

You can understand the price increases though. We have the smallest ground capacity and we lost £300k in the year that we won the double. Coupled with the fact that our ground development may be under threat or certainly not so profitable, as the credit crunch takes a grip. The prices are still pretty reasonable.

I guess we have reached or are about to reach a stage whereby we have to decide whether we want to push on from here or return to the days when we made up numbers.

The membership business was quite unforgivable as was the cock-up with Harris.

any money the club make doenst have to go on ground maintenance as that is what the Cama money is for, they can use it to strengthen the team which was severly weakened over the winter.

Why spend loads on an Emirates Stand that doesnt look great, never gets filled and takes away the glorious park benches??

The problem is they tried to skimp on replacements. Granted the Harris situation did not help, but they have not replaced either Ward or Monty. Nash looks a prospect (although his concentration issues could mean he does not make it), but he is a middle order player, not an opener. Hoppo is at best a one day specialist, he cannot get the scores need in County Cricket.

Collymore now looks like a panic signing, his bowling on Sunday was poor at best and his body language was terrible. I would speculate they have already told him he is not being retained.

The bowling attack being picked is fast medium at best. Sadly Liddle has not kicked on as he should have, however Aga deserves a chance, look at the players he got out in the Kent game, they were top order batsmen, yet he gets dropped for this game.

In defence of the Emirates Stand, I sat in it for the Lancs game and the view is superb. Yesterday were essentially behind the bowlers arm and you get a much better idea of how much the ball is moving etc, so if they want to build a permanent structure there, that would be great.

Thanks Piers.

If CC is not being retained then it makes a mockery of all the comments about Smith's Kolpak signing, having the two Bajans in the same squad. Smith, apart from one innings did not ull up any trees.

Smith’s bowling is not that quick, possibly fast medium. In the County Championship he is probably a number 6, however we have a lot of players that are currently probably number 6’s (Hoppo, Wright, RHB and Smith). I think ultimately RHB will be a number 4 as technically he looks fairly sound, decent footwork and does not play too early.

I think we are going to have to be a little patient with the ground changes etc. I know the present development has been delayed as it supposedly exceeds the budget and they are going to revisit the master plans of the development. I am not sure the annual losses can be contributed to anything other than wages and limited income, so I would err on the side of caution for the time being. Of course, this may not be an issue had the Harris situation not materialised and had Mushy/Yardy etc. been fit at the start of the season. We have always had a small squad, but been very unlucky with injuries this season.

Agreed. I was sat down in the deckchairs for the morning session, before switching to the Emirates and it was so much better. I guess the real issue would be the loss of parking spaces and perhaps blocking the view of the residents behind the ground. Maybe there is the potential for a small(ish) stand that can be extended for use when Twenty20 comes about.

Which is fair enough, but when you spend however many thousands on putting it up, but then take away the fans enjoyment, who is it ever going to get filled? especially when you have to pay an extra suppliment to sit there

So are we saying that Mackay held the purse strings tightly shut not enabling Robbo to recruit good replacements for the out going 3?

Would there have been players out there willing to come to us but not doing so becuase we would not natch thier wage demands?

Maybe Robbo was just the voicepiece but I recall many news articles indiaction that he was conifident in the younger players stepping up to the plate.

Trying desperately not to tempt fate, but it could be quite ironic if Lancs don't get the win because of rain in SUSSEX
