Gateway - Now sommerfield

More to the point, can anyone remember Sainsbury's when it wasn't self-service?

Lord Teviot used to serve behind the counter in the long-gone Sainsbury's shop in Church Road, Hove. That was after he stopped being a bus conductor.

KeyMarkets became Gateway before they became Sommerfield.

I wonder if Pete Frame has drawn the family tree?

PriceRite

There was one in George Street, Hove, when I lived round the corner as a student.

The guy behind the bacon counter always felt sorry for hard-up students and used to bag up three pounds of bacon and then label and price it as 12 ounces.

They eventually closed down.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I used to go into Finefair after school and approach the red barbarians whose coats boast of death. They would give kids anything spare. So we got a pair of sheep eyes each day. Then we'll place then near bus' wheel to watch them burst and splash. Miniscule grenades.
