Plymouth is a complete shithole. I reccomend leaving as soon as you possibly can.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Actually, i've always had an almost Blackpoolesque fondness for Plymouth, if you het a hotel down the ho is a good bit away from all the Pikey nonsence that goes on in Union Street.

When we have gone to Plymouth in previous years we tend to go to Torquay cos its a great place for a piss up and very friendly.

Exeter is good too lots of student types.

Torquay and Paignton are both nice places to stay and plenty to do in Torquay.

Ignore these doubters, we stayed in one of many B&B's in the Barbican area down by the harbour, very nice and tidy, and handy for many bars and restaurants.

Do a search for B&B's and barbican, this should give you what you want.

We had a top night out ( 3-3 game).

I like Plymouth but as advised above the Union Street area can be a bit 'rowdy'.

Best areas are the Hoe, Barbican and Coxside (esp the Thistle Park Tavern).

Don't go down Union Street it is dead now - everything seems to have moved to Mutley Plain - which is near the ground. Best bet is to start on Mutley Plain, move to the Barbican and then find a night club, there are loads of them in Plymouth.

There are more pubs in Plymouth than you can shake a stick at - alki's paradise!!
