Stadium Planning Apps - Quick Question

My mate works in the building trade, and his firm is thinking of tendering for the stadium work.

Anyway, he has just sent me a page from some publication they use (www.building.co.uk) listing jobs for tender.

It looks as though there are two entries for the stadium, both showing detailed planning approval granted. The two App IDs are: BH2001/0241 8/FP & BH2001/0241 9/FP.

Both 'ads' are pretty much the same except for the ref - does anyone know why both are there?

I originally though it could have been Village Way North and South, but North was discarded years ago (I think).

Any ideas?

(I cant attach the image because I dont know how...)

**ooh - look! 1500 posts!**

stadium and carpark?

maybe

Possibly - but they both refer to Brighton City Council as Lead Consultant...

Having said that, LDC are only complainants, not consultants...

Must think more before posting....

No - actually, thinking about this more, both apps are shown as £46m stadium developments.

Surely we couldnt go from no stadium to 2 stadium (stadia)? Maybe keep one for Sunday best / televised games?

For my own sanity, and for the interest of the 100 or viewers who may or may not care, I get it now.

Basically, a contractor will put a job to tender, and build a case for the whole development and submit it to the council. In this case there are 2 contractors competing.

Not uncommon, and pretty obvious when you think about it.

No names on the app... I'm not sure who they are but I imagine it would be pretty easy to find out.

I'd put money on McAlpine being one of them.

An applicant (in this case, Brighton & Hove Albion) makes an application to the relevant planning authority. This is then approved or denied. In our case, it was approved, then went to two bloody Pulic Inquiries.

On approval, the applicant then issues tender documents, and after a given amount of time, the applicant then chooses which tender to go with - not the council.

There were four applications which Prescott granted. One for the stadium, one for the coach park, one for the widening of the access road at Village Way, and (I assume) one for the access from Brighton (footbridge etc).

The first and last of those were applied to at Brighton & Hove City Council, hence the 'BH' prefix. The other two are from Lewes District Council. Lewes (surprise, surprise) rejected the application in their authority, but those decisions have since been superceded by the Public Inquiry.

And by the way, Village Way South was dropped.
