Probably exactly the same as happened in my former home of leafy ealing! No one ever expected looters to congregate at the wealthy convergence of west londons tube, rail and bus network......

its about numbers. Specials can bolster or the daily standing around West end directing tourist, so more regulars available for the front line. assumeing the specials havnt been riot trained, in which case no reason they shouldnt be at the front.

action is what is needed, this is action, so positive either way.

No, it isn't. The army is the answer.

No it's not. For starters they are less well equipped for this than the police. Without their SA80's the army would be bystanders.

Pte Mammoth pretty sure reserve call up papers won't arrive by courier- for starters they would have to reestablish my old regiment!

I think the government are not inclined to send in the army due to whats happening in Syria and how it would be twisted around the world.
Sod that, send them in. As long as there's a free press, and no killing.

That's a fair point, they are less well equiped, and not as appropriately trained as riot police, but no one is suggesting the army is used instead of the police, just as well as. The extra numbers would help a great deal. The more that criminals think there is a police shortage and they can get away with their crimes, the more will go to the streets to commit crimes. Get all available resources on the streets to stop it.

Is it the answer? Depends on the question. If the question is "Where do we find 5000 extra bodies with police training with little or no notice", then it's the best answer we're going to get.

For all those wanting to send the army and bullets in, wasn't it a guy getting shot that started all this?
