I'm not so sure - but I'm not willing to take away some peoples choice to do what they want however bad that choice may be

That's ridiculous.

You're saying people should be allowed to do anything they want.

So why isn't it ok to download child pornography?

I think you'll find that the majority of people in this country do.

The majority of people in this country want a smoking ban. The majority of those are not regular pub goers, nor would they use their local pub significantly more (i.e. more than once a week) if it banned smoking. Therefore, whatever your views on a smoking ban, it doesn't make economic sense. The landlord of my local is a non-smoker, he doesn't like people smoking in his pub, but he won't ban it because he knows that his trade would be decimated and the majority of licensees that I know have said exactly the same. It's had a detrimental effect on trade in Ireland other than Dublin. Strangely, the anti-lobby only seem to quote figures from bars in Dublin...

You'd think if it was that popular more landlords would have smoke free pubs. Not sure I've ever seen one.

lets face it - smoking is going to be banned in public places and there is nothing the smokers can do about it.

Smokers will lose the battle - accept it and give up.

Oooo I'm going to Dublin next week and get to have a smokers view on all this business. I wonder what it's gonna be like.

Only when we find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow tho

And just to add my penny's worth - pubs in Ireland are terrific since smoking was banned. You can actually see the drink and not a cloud of smoke in front of you and you don't stink of smoke the next morning - wonderful.

From what I can see smokers seem to have great fun outside - under big patio heaters, with canopys over them and plenty of smirting going on .............. that is flirting while smoking .............. plenty of action going on

Not me of course
