Which of the British imperial units would you like to see go metric?

It makes sense but it would cost a fortune to replace all the road signs from miles to KM. For that reason alone, it's not going to happen.

It does my head in that US businesses still work in inches. I work in printing and the presses are in metric but I was (I don't work with US clients now due to the possibility of Trump tariffs) forever having to divide by 2.54 so they could understand.

Makes mental note to put down deposit on that conservatory plus book 2 weeks half-board for me and the kids in Mallorca over Easter.

It cost Ireland €30,000,000 in 2005. Obviously smaller than here but it's a drop in the ocean compared to what the tories were giving their mates every week for nothing, like shipping contracts for people with no ships.

I was taught in metric and struggle with some aspects of Imperial: I have no idea about Fahrenheit, pounds and ounces or acres. I do know yards as well as metres but tend to give any measurement in metres eg the Post Office is to the right and then walk 500m" The only Imperial I'm perfectly comfortable with pints - I can measure in litres too but I'm not going to ask for 0.57 litres of Harvey's

It's time to go the whole hog and change everything to metric, it would be much simpler

stopping using British imperial in few places to get at US is utterly daft suggestion. we're already full metric anyway, the only places I can think imperial is still legally used is pub pint measure and road mile signage. let it be.

Keep pints (milk and beer) but put the rest in the bin.

The main disadvantage of the metric system is that almost all of the units take longer to say than something comparable in Imperial.

I'm actually all in favour of metric as it's a far more logical system. I just wish millimetres, centimetres, kilometres and kilograms had fewer syllables. (Yes, I do realise they can all be informally abbreviated.)

Ridiculous idea.

Getting down the pub before a Saturday game and telling the lads you are flagging as you had 5,682ml last night is likely to get you laughed out of the boozer.
