Not about one rule for them and all that. When dealing with some pissed up knob end on a Friday night a swift "f*** Off home or you're nicked" is communicating in a language they understand and will solve the problem without any nicking actually having to be done 9 times out of 10. ?? As long as it's not someone getting lifted for swearing only when the officer has sworn in the process then don't see an issue. As Collar Feeler said when it come to somthing like someone with a knife.....who gives a shit what the officer says when taking them out. Go abroad and see how the Police are there.
