A letter has just arrived from the director of planning and environmental services at Lewes District Council.

Dear Sir/Madam,

PROPOSAL: New entrance & car parking
LOCATION: The Swan Inn Middle Street Falmer East Sussex

You recently commented on this application and I can inform you that it has been REFUSED.

I think as someone memorably pointed out when this was first raised: We don't object to him having a car park - it's just that we don't think it should be next to his pub.

There is a site for parking cars at Sheepcote Valley. Although this does not take into account "The Children of Mile Oak"............!

As a resident, parent and official of a football club in Mile Oak, I would like to hereby state on behalf the whole of the local community that whilst I am in principle, in favour of the aforementioned car park. I wholeheartedly object to this monstrosity being built in Mile Oak. It would ruin the stunning view outside of my kitchen of the big tree on the corner of Broomfield Drive.

I would suggest Beeding Cement Works? No one parks there and the transport to the site is non-existence. however, you could walk from the Swan Inn to the Cement works in 30 minutes.

excellent decision. The village really doesnt need countless more pub hooligans turning up in cars getting drunk and urinating everywhere.
Imagine the traffic

Top work everyone. I just hope he knows where many of the objections came from. And I hope he thinks it is petty and vindictive, because that was what it was meant to be

Happy to be a N.I.H.B.Y. - not in his back yard
