As BoF has already said, money talks. If any smaller lower league club (apart from Leeds as they are a law to themselves) had done what West Ham have, all hell would be breaking loose and a 10-point deduction would be imminent. It's just the sorry state of English football. As for Sheff Utd, they won't win.

Another point, following the corruption case. Newcastle found to be a main perpetrator. Why don't the FA slap any wrong doings by clubs trying to get one over on the league and on English Football on the whole with a 10 point deduction ?? Had this occured with Newcastle, they instead would have been relegated...surely this is the 10-point deduction rule is the only fair way round the state of corruption nowadays.

sheff utd were one of the worst teams in the league last season and went down because of it, what happens on the pitch should dictate what happens with relegation/promotion to rely on the courts to get you out of it is shocking and should never be allowed

Thats a rather simple way of looking at a difficult matter.

Tevez was West Hams best player and shouldnt have been able to play.

If they agree that the action taken was inconsistent then the possibility of the blades being added back into the premier league is worth holding on to if only because it will make those who run the league look the complete arseholes they undoubtedly are.

The decision not to deduct points was so illogical and contrary to all the suggestions of what could / should happen in cases of irregularities (think back to Swindon) that there has to be a case for them being reinstated. It is too late (and there would be legal challenges galore) to relegate West Ham.

That said I cannot see it happening as there is no actual precedent since the league was formed

What fun though that the players (including dear old Bobby Z) seem to have taken the lead from their management in assuming that the law doesn't apply to them....is it a cultural thing maybe??

Hmm but Sheff Utd fate was in their own hands and they did bottle it.

any team which fields Macken up front and lose to a team containing Emile Heskey gets what they deserve.

The bottom line is Sheff Utd didnt get enough points last year & therefore were relegated. They are clutching at straws & making themselves look very stupid at the same time.

Whatever the rights & wrongs are in this case Wham didnt get points deducted & sheff Utd knew this before the end of the season. If they had won their last game they would have stayed up. End of

Bit unfair. Heskey played his best for years...he was awesome.

Still you have a point:D

How was the £5.5m fine decided upon? If that is the standard fine then that would bankrupt a few clubs, if they were to commit the same offence.

It depends on the league they are in.

A premiership manager that gets fined £1000 for something when a league two manager would get fined £200

Also all this talk of having a 21 team league is poor, it would have a knock on effect through the leagues.

Absolutely right of course and not going to happen but "stuffed shirts / egg on face" ........it would be sooooo funny :D

What with the other inquiry launched TODAY of all days by the FA into an illegal clause in the sale of Steve Kabba from Sheff Utd to Watford, it looks like the FA are getting their retaliation in first!
