we went first week of kids holiday up to 36 degrees at 3 in the morning ! more near the casino end. fantastic place. the only real advice i would give is do not engage in conversation with friendly sounding egyptians in town centres. they have a shop just around the corner and then its the hard sell! if your not interested just be polite and keep walking!
Thanks for the advice

Went to Taba in November, bit further towards Israel....sunshine, nice hotel and awesome snorkeling off the jetty where you will see coloured fish and coral that are literally inches away...and you don't even need to dive down you just float on the surface and watch it all before you in crystal clear seas. I would recommend it

Be warned it was around a mile hike out to sea to get to somewhere to snorkel.

That's a laugh. Some of the hotels (especially round Sharks Bay area) have NO beach at all (or very little) 'cos the reef is all the way to the waters edge.
The only way in is to use the pontoon or jetty. Then you are right at the reef wall.

This gives you some idea how close the coral can be (Hilton Sharks Bay). this is where we first stayed in Egypt, been nearly 30 times in all now. In fact, the wife only came back a couple of days ago.

We stayed at the Mirabel Beach and it was miles out to sea however I suspect others are better situated.

However very good pools and bar service etc.

Cheers for this mate, im staying in the Sonesta in June for a week. Really looking forward to it and nice to have some good comments about the place. How expensive was the Quad-biking? Well fancy that.

June will be soo hot,you will have to be near the pool or sea between when you wake up til around 4 every day. Im still a tad confused as think Sonesta Beach is advertised as one hotel but its both sides of road....we stayed sea side and looked a lot nicer than casino side...! anyway think quads were around £40 and are well worth it. Agree with what above poster said, its tad harsh but i ignored all men approaching me and gf as once your in one of their shops your screwed!

Full of shady looking Russian gangsters. Stay clear,I have a cracking real life Russian gangsters in Sham Al Shake story, but that's for another time and place. May I suggest as an alternative the City of St Petersburg?

Brilliantly hot as it was July / August however all of us like it hot and worship the sun.

One of the few places where you had to wear flip flops to walk to the pool.

Most of this has been covered, it can be a bit chavvy and the Brits are defo a minority for Ukrainians/Russians/Polish. But guaranteed sun, good snorkel (we went on a Thomson boat trip for a day, was AMAZING) food at the hotel we were at was "OK" so we "splashed" out and went into town for a few meals, glad we did as even eating out was mega cheap (hardrock cafe was about £20 each for 2 courses, drinks etc, would have cost double anywhere else)

There isn't that much to do in way of things, there is a Pacha which is a cashless bar (need to change your cash into tokens and drinks are never a round amount) and its a bit 'european' there, but still good fun.

I want to go back for a cheap guaranteed sunny holiday but not sure missus is as keen!

You can go any month of the year and it is unlikely to drop much below 30degrees I believe

Abort, retry, fail
Maybe as a single person but when you have kids and a wife you need something to suit all tastes.

Oi! Who are you calling single? :tantrum:

Fair point. I had't really considered the 2.4 children business. I just can't bear the thought of being cooped u on a complex overrun by Brits and fellow tourists.

For once the kids could just get on with whatever they felt like without spending money which makes life easier.

The food was not brilliant but it wasn't crap and there were always choices.

Being so large a complex there were plenty of options to always find somewhere peaceful.
