Never done one before but doing one this year. Is it supposed to be who can buy the most for the money or is it supposed to be funniest/rudist present ?

Work colleagues all being vague.....don't think they know either.

I am in the same situation, and to make matters worse I have drawn the boss. He has spent most of time I have worked here off sick -so all I know about him is that he likes baking cakes (he made us all a nice choclate cake when he returned from illness).

I erred on the side of caution and managed to find a book about baking cakes and a book about cooking with chocolate coming in a 2 pence below the £7 limit.

Hopefully that'll do.

Oh right so you gone for the serious present. Yeah I was thinking that as well. Person I got literally has no hobbies and is a miserable bastard so makes it difficult.

Typically secret santas are serious presents (at least in the work place). They help solve the problem of having to buy presents for everyone, while ensuring everyone gets a present.

It depends on your relationship to the secret santa, the work place, etc. If it's just a co-worker you don't really socialise with, go for a serious present. If it's a close friend, you can judge what they'd want more.

Bah Humbug!! I think its quite fun actually. I do prefer though a version where you buy a present wrap it and then put it in a sack for people to choose a suprise present. Esepcially if you get to play Santa! and work in am office with a number of nice looking ladies

Nah not really - I don't mind most crimbo stuff but this is particularly American - I did rather like the US Office episode about it though.

Yep, that episode was first class. You refer of course where "David Brent" buys an IPOD and moans that no-one else is as generous as him. :D
