Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Problem is that most half decent strikers at Aberdeen/Hearts/Hibs are on decent money, as an example Noel Whelan was on £4000 a week at Aberdeen last year and thats out of our range.

Not a striker, but Mark Wilson at Dundee Utd is a very decent right back. Would be an asset.
Wolves are after him aren't they?

Yes they are.

Well I have been saying since May that we should be looking at him, but now Wolves, Leeds and Heats are sniffing there is zero chance and Eddie Thompson has said that 500k is the starting price.

Oh well, will have to go and watch some more Scottish football to pick out my next one to go after...

Other than Dodd we do not have a specialist right back, we have a collection of players that can cover that position, in Reid's case fairly well, but he still considers himself a midfielder.

Wilson would have been an asset, but there are other positions that need to be sorted. However you could argue that signing Henderson is not the best use of resources, but when a talented player is available, if you have a chance of getting them it is not a bad idea as they can be sold on.

Regarding the left back, Sam Rents.

Three big-ish clubs are after him, and Dundee Utd have said they won't look at offers under £500k. Can you drop the Mark Wilson thing now please, Mr Buck. ;)

Funny how things have changed in SWEATY tho, lots of players would now rather stay in Scotland as the general perception of anything other than the premiership is not what it was, actually compared the SPL to the Championship and its difficult to see who the poorer relation is.

I could not see teams like Dundee Utd doing much in the Championship. After all they have a striker that did nothing at Bristol City (Miller) last season and players like Dodds up there ending their careers. However if you can get a contract at even the Edinburgh clubs it is probably a better standard than most of this league.

I think teams from England sniff around players up there as they are generally cheaper than ones from the English League.

There's the Championship, with it's 18,000 gates (4th highest attended league in the world) or there's the Scottish league, where only 5 teams are capable of attracting a gate over 10,000 unless the Old Firm are in town. Last season, Inverness had a couple of gates under 2,000!

The only difference is that for the first time in ages, you can look outside the scottish top 2 for sides that would finish in the top 6 in the Championship. Hearts, Hibs and perhaps Kilmarnock.

El-Abd is a rb...

El-Abd will probably tell you his preferred position is at centre back, so he falls into another he can do a job (presently a decent one) at right back.

Personally, I think he has played better at rb...

Fair enough, but in the games he has played a centre back he has shown decent pace and strength, but as he is probably under 6 foot, the English game generally says you cannot play at centre back, which is complete rubbish.

As a full back you should be able to cross the ball well (something Mayo actually can do), but El-Abds crossing is not that great at present.
