I watched the grudge 2 the other night. Scared the shit out of me and the Mrs. To be honest I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to horror but can't help looking for the ultimate fear factor.

So which film has made you soil yourself

Hmmmmmmmm, it's something of a terrifier toss-up that. One could choose the original Ring, or Don't Look Now, or The Shining, or even Teenwolf 2.
I used to stay up until about 3am as a child watching whatever films Sky had the late license to show, but i think what ribbed me most was Salem's Lot (or anything involving murderous clowns). The post-midnight viewings could partially suggest why i am afraid of almost everything now, but in those days i'd lie still when a film finished, thinking that only to inspect brings horror to life, while to ignore invasion and the currently unseen makes existence bearable.

Years ago I watched a film one Christmas Eve called "The Woman In Black" (yes, the same as the West End Show) and I very nearly cacked myself, no special effects or gore, just utterly terrifying, sense of menace and impending doom. I have seen just about every horror film going and nothing Hollywood has produced has scared me as much as this low budget British effort.

Saw 3 is just gore pornography, theres nothing clever or scary about it.

I saw The Ring at the cinema and that SHIT me up something rotten at the end. I went all goosebumpy. Remember watching Alien when I was about 12 or 13 as well, that was pretty nerve-shredding at the time. Oh, and The Shining - that image of the two little girls and the tidalwave of blood...

*shudder*

Is that the one where the woman came up from the bottom of the bed.

VERY good shout Mr B (the David Soul one aye ?).
I think they showed it on TV over two nights didnt they. Two defining images that remain in my mind - the bit where Danny Glick is hovering outside that kiddies window in the mist, scraping the glass and urging him to let him in. And that \'orrible snaggle-toothed vampire when it appears bold as BRASS in someones kitchen.

The hallway light was left switched on outside my bedroom door THAT night, I can tell you.

Or gorenography.

I hate those type of films, Hostel, Saw, there have been a couple of others, they're just stupid.

The Grudge (either version) is scary, Halloween too, the daddy of all slasher films (and arguably the only decent one)

I didn't get scared watching the Grudge 2....HOWEVER...when I watched The Grudge at the cinema for the first time, that frightened me. And I mean really frightened me. I don't like Japanese people anymore. Don't really trust them after that film. Scary Stuff.

I remember the first time I watched Friday the 13th at the cinema and nearly shat myself at the end when he dragged the girl out of the boat.

That was a very scary film.

good shout on Salems Lot - they actually showed the vampire jumping out on Points of View one evening (circa 1980). I nearly shat meself and ended up halfway up the stairs (i was 7)

recently it has to be the Ring, or Audition. The Japs do horror good!

True. David Soul is an amusingly bad actor and unapproachable hero, as is the gravedigger i normally see just as Clint Eastwood's dumbknuckle cohort in Every Which Way But Loose (not the oranguman) who's gnawed by a dead nipper as the sun foolishly sets behind his back. I imagine that boy is the one who taps the window of his wide-eyed friend. It's that bloody tapping that's haunted me since.

You also have James Mason as the harbinger of bad tidings and internally moving coffins, and his tone is enough to chill a hot meal or burning will.

Original version of Stepford Wives - no gore or graphic nastiness just an air of creepiness and a scary ending. Also "The Others" - once again nothing graphically nasty just an air of creepiness throughout.

Digressing a bit the recent episode "Blink" of Dr Who scared a lot of kids.

Saw 3 was just obscene , sick in fact I hated every minute of it. I rated saw 1 and 2 but 3 was just offensive. I am against all this torture porn cropping up, Hostel, Captivity, Saw 3 etc, its for serious sicko's. I like a horror to get into your head not make you want to throw up. In Saw 3 I actually started to sweat and feel physically sick and nearly threw up. I rate
