Albion Beat Chichester

By Tim Dudding

Albion's reserves won 1-0 at Chichester City tonight in the Sussex Senior Cup, but the victory was marred by the sending off of Georges Santos for violent conduct.

The French defender saw red following an off the ball incident in the second half, but even though it was a reserve team match, Football League rules mean that he will now be suspended from the first team games against Scunthorpe, Boston United and Northampton Town.

Albion are already without Alex Frutos for the same matches, after he was dismissed for elbowing Shaun Barker in the 3-0 defeat to Blackpool on Sunday.

The Seagulls, led by Director of Football Martin Hinshelwood, progressed into the third round of the competition thanks to a first-half solo effort from Jake Robinson.

A minute before the interval the Albion striker caught the home side on the break, before slotting past Chichester keeper Anthony Ender.

Joe Gatting had already forced a good save from Ender earlier in the half, while in the second period, Doug Loft also tested the Chichester stopper but couldn't increase Albion's lead.

Albion: (4-4-2) Sullivan; P Hinshelwood, Santos, Elphick, Rents; Hart, Fraser, Loft, Robinson; Molango (Cobbs), Gatting. Subs not used: Winterton (GK), Skinner, J Martin, Gargan.

Fruty could come and sit next to me at Withdean if he likes, I'm sure he'd be better company than the boring twat who usually occupies said position.

I speak a bit of French too...hmm, maybe I should apply to be the Albion's morale officer to help out all of our lonely foreigners.

What's really depressing about this result is the line up - it's practically the 1st team these days:nono:

with the leauge over we are concentrating on a good cup run

To be fair, the SSC is probably more prestigious than the Johnstone's Paint Pot or whatever it's called.

About time Jakey got a decent run in the team.

At least if that happens he wont be in the first team or even sub which is going along the right lines. The next one is to send him to Barnet on loan to strengthen himself up to play against men.
