Potter was given an upgraded bazillion year contract after just a few months in the role.
Based on the schedule on another thread that De Zerbi is on the lowest salary in the Premier League, when should he get a big upgrade in his contract?
There is no evidence that he is the lowest paid. No-one knows his contract terms. I'd be surprised if he was.

The virtuous circle of BHAFC in 2023:

Former Premier League defender Neil Taylor says Brighton are a club in demand for players to join at this moment in time.

While he praised the progress under Roberto de Zerbi, Taylor said the hard work done by his predecessor Graham Potter can't be forgotten.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast: "The way they are doing things at the minute, players will be desperate to go and play for Brighton. They almost don’t have to sell themselves.

"It’s not going to be a struggle now for Brighton to get players in. They need to be clever about it.

"Let’s not undermine the work that Graham Potter did beforehand in making them a real comfortable team on the ball. I don’t think they were as front foot as they are now and as direct as they are now, but the framework was already there."

Well he isn't wrong, but we can all see the substantial improvement in the last four months from a manager that could barely even speak English when he arrived.

Potter had three years to change things, RDZ has had three months. The difference in ratio of improvement to time between both managers is vast.

You're in danger of starting an internet war with someone who was taking a nsc sabbatical :catfight::lolol:

New interview with Roberto. Says we never went for Zaniolo.

https://football-italia.net/de-zerbi-ill-return-to-serie-a-in-the-future/

“No, although he is a very strong player, who by the way is within our age parameters. Brighton have fixed age parameters,. they look for players to resell. But Zaniolo is outside our economic parameters.”
Thanks. Interesting little bit here in light of the past few days:

The Italian coach was asked about the economic might of Premier League clubs.

“In all other teams except mine. Mine is tough on the market. The English league is richer, just look at how much has been spent here this January and how much in Italy.”

Potter's last 13 league games:
P13 W8 D3 L2 F25 A9 PTS 26

RDZ's first 13 league games:
P13 W5 D3 L5 F26 A22 PTS 18

We can talk managers all we want, but 'the team' had already made a transition into scoring a lot more goals and winning a lot more games before RDZ arrived. He didn't flick a switch, it was already flicked.

As a team we have scored 51 PL goals in 26 games. :O

I agree, RDZ is doing a fantastic job and is a huge upgrade on Potter

It’s not a comparison of managers, it’s just making the point the side had already been scoring lots of goals when RDZ arrived. Think too many people are hung up on managers to see how good we’ve been especially since April 2022.

Indeed,... he seems to be a real find,.... but..... with the advent of no '1st team' recruits in the window just elapsed, is he going to become unsettled?.... is this a missed opportunity to solidify a top 6 finish. We know injuries and suspensions will arrive at some point, some are already here of course, I just hope RDZ isn't miffed at not getting his stated target positions covered.

Depends what was agreed when we hired him. You’d assume it was discussed by both sides during the interview process.

And I’d bet Tony Bloom never promised to make a £30M club record signing in January

Yes because he didn’t have players like caicedo / Mitoma etc. so it’s quite right to compare the immediate squad and results just before and just after - rather than 3 years ago when we were playing Zequiri & Connolly

A fantastic article by the Telegraph’s Sam Dean about us. Behind a paywall, but folk here can advise how to get beyond it.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...walking-football-why-roberto-de-zerbi-genius/

Lots of insights eg Bloom feels we can take 4th place this season hence no Caicedo sale, also on RDZ tactics and skills, how and why we improved over Potterball.

A snippet:

“It is little wonder, then, that De Zerbi has become enormously popular with his players. Even those who have not featured as regularly, Telegraph Sport understands, have been blown away by the Italian’s tactical understanding of the game and personal warmth. It helps, too, that they have a tight-knit dressing room which regularly socialises together away from training”.
